Test Apps on Multiple Mobile Devices from a Single Tablet

Despite the massive growth in the mobile software market, app developers are still beset by testing limitations that make it difficult to simultaneously test products on multiple platforms. With the appearance of Nativetap, that problem appears to have been solved.

Emerging during the Disrupt NY 2015 Startup Battlefield, Nativetap allows software developers to run comprehensive performance and debugging tests on multiple mobile devices from a single tablet. Nativetap could be a major boon to Dallas mobile app developers and software professionals around the world, as it helps software creators improve functionality and app appearance across a wide range of platforms without running individual tests.

The Nativetap interface lets developers view live streams of their in-development apps as they run on multiple smartphones and mobile devices located in remote data centers. Not only does this remove significant efficiency limitations, but it also helps an iPhone app development company reduce capital expenditures and operating costs by eliminating the need to buy or lease dedicated devices for testing purposes.

The data center-based devices are owned and managed by Nativetap, which has plans to expand its current inventory of 20 mobile devices to 50 during the initial rollout phase. While Nativetap does concentrate on the newest and most popular devices, it also allows software developers to access older platforms that still have broad user bases.

Access to Nativetap follows a queueing model, in which users are assigned time slots with specific devices. Billing mimics structures seen in SaaS cloud services, in which users buy time and qualify for discounted rates when they purchase more interface hours. About 4,000 users have signed up for beta testing, including 70 companies labeled as “power users.” Nativetap is currently available only on Android platforms, though the company may expand its reach to include iOS and other operating systems in the future.
